Primum Familiae Vini, also known as PFV, is an international association of some of the world's finest wine producing families from France, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Spain, the "Leading Wine Families”. PFV was created in 1992 and membership is by invitation only, with a maximum of 12 highly respected families contributing generations of expertise.
PFV members aim to promote extremely high quality and sustainability; combine family tradition with innovation; and encourage other family firms to remain independent and stand up for quality and positive values.

The PFV Prize ‘Family is Sustainability’
Since 2021, the Primum Familiae Vini have launched of The PFV Prize, an annual award of €100,000 to a family company in any area of enterprise that can present a new initiative or development project that demonstrates excellence in sustainability, innovation, craftsmanship and the successful transmission of responsibility and commitment from one generation to the next.
What is the purpose of PFV Prize?
PFV aim to encourage other family companies to continue their independent development and to prove that a family business can be a powerful tool to respond to the social and environmental challenges of our time. The winner will have the opportunity to share knowledge with the twelve PFV families, all of whom have a long experience in overcoming numerous and at times existential challenges throughout their long histories.
The PFV Prize consists of two parts:
A Financial grant of €100,000.
Contact with various members of the PFV so that they can share their multi-generational experience and know-how in guiding their family companies through the generations.
